Dark Souls Remastered: What the Best Starting Class Is
The weapon you pick in Dark Souls: Remastered defines your character. Some of them are hard to find, some of them are actually really common, but all of them are awesome in their own unique way. And this guide is all about the PVE function of weapons. Let us know what weapons are your personal bests in the comments section below.
There are lots of weapons with high scalability, so check every weapon you get. One of the earliest, strongest weapons you can find very early in the game. The massive Greatsword is a late-game acquire. That will really help keep your costs down. One of the literal best weapons in the game. Upgrade this weapon, and the health will just melt off the toughest bosses. It scales relatively well, but you will need a Dexterity build and lots of materials to make this weapon especially useful.
This weapon is ideal for that playstyle. It also inflicts toxic, one of the rare weapons that can inflict that status effect. Even bosses, with enough build-up, will succumb to toxic — a deadlier version of poison. To get the sword, all you need to do is join the Gravelord Servant Covenant. Use it and ride the coffin, and then interact with the Gravelord Nito sarcophagus.
You can purchase this weapon from the Undead Merchant in the Undead Burg for souls, right at the start of the game. Riposte is one of those tricky techniques beginners usually ignore. You can complete the game without performing a single riposte. The most brutally efficient weapon in the game is the Great Club.
What makes the Great Club so powerful is really simple. Almost every enemy in the game will be stunned by the impact of the Great Club, making it super easy to stunlock them. The leaping attack is pretty impressive too. The club is guarded by Infested Barbarians in the southwest corner of the swamp. Next we have the claw.
Get this weapon from Shiva of the East for 5, souls. Again, the merchant will appear in Darkroot Garden or Blighttown near the waterwheel if you talk to the cat in the Darkroot Garden and join the Forest Hunters.
You can also get the greataxe as a drop from Taurus Demon enemies — or by killing the Taurus Demon boss battle with magic spells only. Halberds can be awkward weapons to you. There are three Black Knights that never respawn that will drop this Halberd. The Black Knight Halberd has the highest poise, and like all Black Knight weapons, deals extra damage to demons. If you want to farm Titanite Demons in Lost Izalith, this is a pretty good choice.
An amazing weapon that you can acquire right at the start of the game, the Zweihander has strong scalability so it stays relevant for the entire game.
As long as you keep it upgraded, it can stay with you for the entire game. That said, if you are a new player, the starting class choice is pretty crucial because every class comes with a different set of equipment. The most popular choices for new players are usually the Warrior, Knight, and Bandit. The Bandit comes equipped with the Spider Shield, which can carry you through the first half of the game because of its added poison resistance.
However, the Bandit also wields the Battle Axe, which may or may not to be your liking, depending on the kind of build you want to go for. The Warrior and Knight offer a bit more of a traditional play style, as they both come equipped with the Longsword, which is probably the most straightforward weapon in the game. Between these two classes, however, we recommend going with the Warrior because the default equipment set for the Knight will cause you to fat roll until you can increase your endurance.
If you really want to go for a magic build during your first playthrough, consider choosing the Pyromancer instead of the Cleric or Sorcerer. The Pyromancer also gets a Hand Axe as a starting weapon, so you always have a melee option. The Master Key is generally not recommended for first-timers because it can lead you into high leveled areas you might not be ready for. Without the Master Key, the game will funnel you through a much more straightforward and relatively smoother difficulty curve.
These will make short work of the Asylum Demon. Connect with us.

This build is all about faith. Few enemies through the game have resistance to lightning and every dragon is weak to it. So get ready to bully those bosses and own on some plebs. We all love our cosplay. What better to play than the most mysterious of characters within the game.
Yuria is loyal to the Ashen One if you have treated her friend correctly and will therefore appear in the Firelink Shrine where you have the option to do her questline, allowing you to get her gear at the end of the main story or kill her. Only half-way through the year, and has proven to be a great year for PC gaming. Whether you like to play online multiplayer, or go it alone, you have many fantastic game options to choose from.Because of that, some of you will want to run out and craft this build as quickly as possible. On the other hand, some of you will want to know the strategies that'll beat him in an instant.
This guide to Dark Souls: Remastered will show you how to do two things:. This build starts at Soul-level You can go higher to take advantage of higher-level PvP locations and arenas. However, if you want to stay "true" to the base Giant Dad build, you'll want to put stats into other categories than those shown below. If you don't care about that, then you can obviously allocate more points as you see fit.
Get it from Pinwheels in the Catacombs or from Patches in Firelink. You can ditch the helm. This set provides good elemental and physical defense while being one of the lighter heavy armor sets in the game. You can find it after defeating Knight Lautrec of Carim as a drop. You can also visit Snuggly the Crow and drop the Xanthous Crown. Havel's Ring increases your Equip load and can be found after defeating Havel the Rock as a drop.
Chaos Zweihander: This might be one of the most efficient two-handed weapons in Dark Souls: Remastered. You only need 16 STR to wield it, easing both equip load and stat allocation. The Chaos upgrade path is important here because it scales the Zweihander's damage with Humanity. You can also opt to use the Dark Hand with this build.
This works well with the Chaos Zweihander, helping you make the latter weapon even more powerful. Lastly, get the Pyromancy called Dark Flame.
After you get it from the Chasm of the Abyss, you'll find it's particularly powerful at close range. In fact, it mauls stamina when enemies block your attacks, wearing them down relatively quickly depending on how you use it. The Zweihander is so powerful in its Chaos form that a single hit can stun enemy phantoms in place, setting them up for a devastating follow-up attack.
And although the Giant Dad's attacks have long er animations, having increased END levels, as well as equipping Havel's Ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection, means you can dodge and roll quite a bit. Use this to your advantage. Confuse other phantoms and players by looking for backstab opportunities, which can be especially useful since most players will expect Giant Dads to attack head on.
If you do take enemies head on, use the Black Flame to deplete most of their Stamina, then go for the stunlock. Once that connects, quickly follow up with another Zweihander swing to finish them off. If you're facing off against a Giant Dad, you'll want to employ these strategies if you want to survive.
Essentially, focus on parryingrollingand backstabbing. You most likely won't be able to face this build blow for blow, so your best bet is to be patient and defensive. Tranquil Walk of Peace is a fantastic spell to use against this build.
If played correctly, you can get a nasty backstab in. However, unless you have a high DEX rating and can cast spells very quickly, this is an unsafe strategy at best. It's true: some players will wretch at the thought of seriously playing a Giant Dad. Griefers have made the build one that many players avoid.
However, if you must venture into PvP using this specific class, don't be an arsehole. Nobody likes griefers. Got any other strategies for using or defending this build? You must set the rotating bridge to its lowest setting to gain access to the Darkmoon Tomb.

You'll come across a large room full of coffins. Near the large headless demon is a coffin that sticks out from the wall more than the others. Examine the coffin and nestle in it.
After 30 seconds, you will be transported to the Altar of the Gravelord. Pray at Nito's coffin to enter the Covenant. You must speak to the Stone Dragon in Ash Lake. In the Blight Town swamp you will find a large, hollowed out tree. Inside is a hidden wall that leads to a chest. Behind the chest is another hidden wall, which leads to The Great Hollow. Knowing which build fits your playstyle is essential to success. But that's something only you can determine by playing the game. However, knowing which builds are the best for PvP -- and those you should fashion your character after or outright construct -- is what we're here for. If you have any that aren't listed here but are effective in PvP, let us know in the comments at the bottom of the page. We'll add it or them to this list and credit you with the addition.
This category is for players looking to utterly crush their opponents using pure power to win any encounter. It's also worth noting that many of the weapons and armor sets in this category are slowmaking strategy and defense the primary principles of these build types. Of course, there are hybrids with high DEX values, but pure strength isn't known for it maneuverability.
However, increasing this attribute is also because your strength value combines with the Strength Parameter Bonus to provide additional damage based on scaling. Endurance gives you more staminaso you'll be able to attack more and block more.
You'll also be able to use heavier weapons without expending all of your stamina. Endurance benefits taper off around Lvl. Vitality benefits taper off around Lvl. This stat is important for PvP, but you should not sacrifice other stats to increase its level. Ignore Intelligence, Faith, Attunement, and Resistance until much later in the game -- or entirely. You should only assign points to these stats after you've reached the soft caps for Strength, Vitality, and Endurance or if you're going for a hybrid build that, for example, might wield a catalyst.
Also be aware that if you wield a weapon with both hands, you get a strength multiplier of 1. It puts a ton of emphasis on strength and wielding heavy weapons. Here are the stats:. Of course, you won't be able to dodge much using this type of build, but you will be able to take damage while dealing large amounts of it in return.
Players in this category like to toy with their opponents, using misdirection and speed to gain the upper hand. Dexterity builds are typically more agile than other builds. Players should not turtle or rely on traditional blocking during encounters.Dark Souls - Favourite Builds
Liberal rolling and evading are recommended, as well as backstabbing and riposte maneuvers. Many of the weapons and armor sets used in this category are fast and nimblemaking speed and precision the core principles of these build types. A higher Dexterity value will boost your overall attacking power, as well as your finesse. Increasing this attribute also boosts the Dexterity Parameter Bonus, which increases your damage when wielding Dexterity-based weapons such as Rapiers, Daggers, Spears, and Bows.
Dark Souls Remastered Covenant guide
Endurance gives you better bleed resistance. This is very important because Dexterity builds often wear light armor and do not carry shields. Vitality will also decrease fall damage. This is important for stealth builds such as the Ninja and Rogue. Strength gives you weapon options. Don't invest heavily in Strength early on. Instead, increase Strength to wield more powerful Dexterity-class weapons in the mid- to late-game.
You can ignore Intelligence, Faith, and Attunement until the late-game or subsequent playthroughs. Resistance could be useful for a Dexterity Build ; however, Dex builds should not get hit very often, so skill points are better spent elsewhere.
Putting 20 into your STR stat will let you wield a fair amount of Dark Souls ' weapons, effectively giving you a few extra choices for this build. You'll want to wield something like the Balder Side Sword or the Uchigatana which also provides good bleed damage.
